My husband and I love to try new recipes on the grill, I do the prep work and he does the cooking. We’re a perfect team!
Neither one of us had ever tried flank steak before but I knew I really wanted to try it. I got ours a BJ’s Wholesale and it was a 2lb one so I had enough leftovers for a second meal. This steak recipe is perfect if you have a big family, entertaining or on a budget and want to stretch your meals.
I had about a dozen limes in the fridge and wanted to find a recipe that used lime juice as a base. I found one on food.com and adapted it to our liking. I changed out the olive oil for avocado oil because I prefer to use that on the grill since it has a higher smoke temperature. You can also use canola or vegetable oil whatever you prefer. One day I didn’t have any fresh garlic. I know, Italian and no fresh garlic in the house I’m pretty sure that’s a cardinal sin but I used garlic powder in its place and it still came out perfect! After mixing all the ingredients in the blender I poured it over the steak and let it marinate for a couple of hours. It won’t look like a lot of marinade but once you rub it over the steak it will be plenty.
My husband grilled it 3mins on each side on one half of the grill that was really hot and then let it finished on the cooler side. Once it was done we let it rest a few minutes and then cut it against the grain.
It came out to be the best tasting steak we have has in a long time!!
The first taste proved to full of flavor and extremely tender. We make it almost every Sunday now with grilled pineapple and vegetables.
I highly recommend you make this!
