Hey Guys! Happy Monday!!! I hope you all had a great weekend! Ours was fantastic, productive and non-stop and I got some great items during my weekly retail travels too.
My favorite part of the weekend besides the delicious lunch we had on Friday was the morning walks with my husband. He and I have started walking in the early morning on the weekends and before he leaves for work during the week instead of the evenings. The mornings have been so much cooler here and you would almost think it’s Fall. He sometimes gets held up at the office and can’t always walk with me when I go in the evening. This way we get our walk in together and it gives us a chance to chat and enjoy some time before the craziness of the day takes over.
Our weekend was packed with projects and shopping trips, which started on Friday with a trip to Freeport Maine to some of the outlets and our favorite restaurant Jameson Tavern. If you ever visit Maine you need to eat at this place, they have the most amazing french fries. They also say the Tavern is haunted and people have seen ghosts walking through. I have not seen any ghosts as many times as I’ve been there but I love the history of the old tavern and a good ghost story. I actually lived in a haunted house as a kid, maybe when we get closer to Halloween I will share the story. In the meantime you can read more about the haunted history of Jameson Tavern and check out their menu here.
Whenever I go I always get the crab roll with extra french fries! So good!
While we were in Freeport we checked out some of the outlets to see if the boys saw anything they liked for back to school. We came back from the trip with four shirts and a couple new hats for my husband and Trever. Needless to say with two weeks left until school starts we will be doing some serious school clothes shopping.
I’m not really a fan of outlet shopping, I just don’t seem to have the patience to pick through clothes for a deal and I never seem to find what I’m looking for. I always admire people who talk about what great deals they find while outlet shopping. We really just went for the food and for a Trader Joes run because our closest one is two hours away from us too, I keep hoping they bring one closer.
One thing I ordered online for Trever this past week were these flannel shirts from LLBean and they are doing 20% off kids clothes and backpacks until August 27th. These flannels are so well made and wash beautifully, they also have colors for girls! Trev pretty much lives in these and hoodies with jeans in the Fall.
One thing I picked up for myself while we were in Freeport was a Seabag tote. I had some birthday money left from back in March and I was looking for something special to use it on. I had been eyeing these totes for a couple of months. Seabags of Maine is a Maine owned company that makes beautiful bags from recycled sails There are places on the bag that you can see the sail was actually used and loved on a ship which at first I didn’t think I would like because I have a bit of OCD but when I saw this bag in person I was in love. This is a bag that will hold up to pool and beach days and running around town. I knew I had to have the one with the black lab on it, I was so glad we stopped into the store so I could see it in person, it’s definitely a bag I will have for a long time. I’m already planning a second bag purchase in the future, I got the medium tote this time and would also like to get the large one.
One of the big projects I worked on this weekend was repainting our front door, It was originally white but we have a gray house and white railings. I felt like the door needed something to help it stand out. I had mentioned to Mr,JMM a few times about painting the door but with all the other projects we’ve been working on I never really got serious about it. Until I saw a friend on Instagram post about her front door redo, it looked fantastic and the color was perfect!
She so kindly shared all of the details with me of the color she used and we went and picked up the paint and supplies so I could work on this project on Sunday while Mr.JMM was working on other projects. I’m also going to use this same paint color on our mudroom door that goes out to the garage when we redo our mudroom later this Fall.
It wasn’t dry in time for me to take after pictures for this post but you can see before and after pictures and details coming up this week on Instagram.
While we were at the paint store we stopped into HomeGoods which is right next door so of course I had to run in and take a peek. My sweet husband was kind enough to help me carry a mirror I had been eyeing for my office the last time I was there. We just got it into my truck before it started pouring rain, so I would say that was perfect timing! It’s a beautiful wall mirror and I got it for under $80 they always have such great pieces for my home, honestly you can’t help but love HomeGoods!
While we were out and about on Saturday we stopped at Bath and Body Works to shop their candle sale. I had a gift card I wanted to use and bought 21 candles!!! When I said in my About Me that I love their candles I really wasn’t joking. The candles were on sale for 12.50 and I had an additional 20% off coupon making each candle $10.
One big tip about Bath and Body Works, always wait for a sale on candles it’s always worth it!! This won’t be my last candle haul of this season either, the fall scents are my favorite and I burn them straight though the winter so I need to stock up, winters in Maine are long!
I really love this years packaging too, the ones pictured below are currently my favorite scents!
When we came home we painted the movie room closet to match the color we did in the actually room and plan on adding shelving that Mr.JMM is going to size to fit standing dvds. I can’t wait to have this closet done and all the movies organized and I really can’t wait to show you!! The room and closet were previously what we jokingly call pumpkin spice orange I really don’t understand who paints multiple rooms in a newer construction home orange. No offense if that’s your color……we all have our own tastes.
I mean I love me some pumpkin spice just not on my walls! This is the same color that’s also in the boys bathrooms and master bath. I can’t wait to completely rid this house of it!! Hopefully by the end of this winter we will have all the rooms repainted to our preferred color palette. Yay!!
I also finished the book Secrets of Southern Girls by Haley Harrigan on Thursday and it was a fantastic read! I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a new book to read. It was a debut book for this author and I think she did an amazing job writing it. I hope she will write more books in the future.
This upcoming week will consist of finishing up school shopping with the boys, wish me luck. Haha! I hope you all have a wonderful week!
