I hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Today is the last day before it’s back to school, a part of me is looking forward to the structure of the daily school routines and a small part of me likes having no routine at all at least not one that involves school. Ha! I will be making the boys their favorite cookie bars today as special treat.
Last week was a pretty quiet week around here, I wanted the boys to just enjoy their last week of summer. The weather lately has been very Fall like, the days have been warm but you can tell the air is changing and the last few mornings for our walks has been in the 40’s. It’s really put me in the mood for Fall and I’ve slowly started adding a few decorations to the house in preparation for my favorite season.
On Thursday my favorite UPS guy delivered my new towels I ordered from LLBean, I chose the Flint color which is like a light gray, these are the Egyptian Cotton Towels. I bought some of these towels for the first time last year for the boys bathrooms and they have held up beautifully. They wash and dry nicely without fading, I highly recommend them if your looking for new towels.
Mr.JMM took Friday off so we had a nice long family weekend, we took a trip to Pier One which the closest one to us is an hour away so I don’t get there often but they always have the cutest seasonal decor and I wanted to take a peek.
They had some great stuff and I was able to get a few new things to add to our home, I’m going to show a couple things and then save the rest for my Fall Decor Tour which will be in an upcoming post once everything is fully decorated.
I found this adorable metal pumpkin candle holder which I think will look fantastic in my entryway. I’m going to get some LED votives to use in it, I think it will be a great eye catching piece,
If you guys haven’t discovered these yet I highly recommend the LED candles for candle holders. I love to use them because I can leave them on and put them in places you may not of been able to put a traditional candle. I especially love to use the timer features once it starts to get darker earlier that way the candles just turn on automatically. Now don’t get me wrong I love me some candles as you’ve seen in past posts but I wouldn’t want to leave candles burning in my entryway where I can’t keep an eye on them. I usually get mine at Hobby Lobby when they’re on sale but I’ve seen them quite a few places and I’m sure you can find them on Amazon!
I also picked up this reed diffuser which I’m really kind of kicking myself for not getting the candle that matched because it smells so good. It’s called Pumpkin Cider Apple. I think next time we go which will be next month I’m going to grab a couple of the candles, I was really impressed with them but definitely getting this scent if they still have it in stock.. Also of the Fall decor I found at Pier One was 20% off.
One non seasonal item I picked up were these faux fur blankets for the back of our couch. The ones that were there we’d had for few years and with regularly washing had lost their softness. These are amazingly soft and go with the couch and wall color so nicely. I can’t wait to cuddle up with one of these and good book in front of the fireplace on a snowy day.
My favorite and biggest purchase of the shopping day was the antler chair I picked out for my office. I had been searching for a chair forever for this corner and I when I saw this I knew it was the one. It’s just so cute and the way I have my office decorated, a little girly with some outdoors and rustic thrown in it’s perfect! I want to get a floor lamp to go behind it and a cute throw and accent pillow, I’m just so in love with this chair!
On Saturday I painted our other exterior door to match the front door and Mr.JMM changed out the door knobs from bronze/silver to an antiqued bronze witch looks so much better with the dark gray door and also accents the black shutters we have on our house.
All of the movie room furniture and shelving I’ve been talking about for the last couple of weeks is finally complete and back in the room. I took some time Sunday afternoon to alphabetize the movies and organize them on the shelves. Keep an eye out for the tour of that space mid September!
I found this new scent at Bath and Body Works during their last candle sale and it’s perfect for the movie room candle holder. It smells like movie theater popcorn with a hint of maple. Amazing!!
This was definitely a weekend dedicated to some family time and finishing up some projects that we were ready to have completed. The boys start school tomorrow and I look forward to my once a week Mom Day where I enjoy lunch out and a little retail therapy. I will definitely be on the lookout for that floor lamp. I have one in mind I have seen it before I’m hoping Target still has it. Fingers crossed!!
Keep an eye out for my monthly favorites coming midweek and if you missed last weeks round-up you can find it here. I hope you all have an amazing week!!
