Wow! Just like that summer vacation is over and the kids are back in school, I can’t believe I’m the Mom of 6th and 8th grader, seems crazy to me how time flies by. That also means it’s the end of the month and time for my monthly favorites!! I always love reading favorite posts, I have found new books and products through other bloggers recommendations and I hope you will discover something new as well.
I have two favorite books this month , Secrets of Southern Girls by Haley Harrrigan and The Widow’s House by Carol Goodman. I had never read books by either of these authors and ended up loving both, I’m so glad I picked them up.
The Widows House is about a couple who become caretakers for a mansion with a haunted history. This is the book for you if your like a good ghost story, especially with September arriving and Halloween around the corner, these stories always seem so fitting this time of the year. I can’t wait to read more of Carol Goodman’s books I really like her style of writing.
Secrets of Southern Girls Is about a girl who thinks she killed her best friend years ago and swears she will never go back to her hometown. It’s interesting how even when your best friends with someone you may never really know them at all. She ends up going back to where she grew up and learning the truths of what happened the night her best friend died. Its written from different perspectives and keeps you reading to find out what really happened. I hope Haley Harrigan writes another book, she really did a great job with her first one.
My favorite hair product of the month is Kenra’s Nourishing Masque, I did a review on this product back at the beginning of July and I’m so in love with this deep conditioner. It adds so much moisture and shine to my curly hair and I love how my hair looks on the days that I use it. This will be a product I purchase over and over, I actually just reordered it a couple of weeks ago. With the colder months coming regardless of hair type everyone can use a good deep conditioner in the winter!
My favorite clothing item this month has been button down plaid shirts. I love these lighter weight shirts for the transition into Fall, they look cute with jeans and shorts. A lot of times where I live we have days that feel like Fall in August and these are perfect. You can find the one I’m wearing here.
I will definitely be getting a lot more wear out of this shirt as we head into September.
My favorite candle scent for the month of August was Bath & Body Works Watermelon Lemonade, it was a nice fruity summer scent that wasn’t too overpowering. I’m definitely ready for the pumpkin and apple scents that will be going non-stop now that we’re headed into September. Yay!!! Honestly I don’t even know how I will pick one favorite next month. Haha!
In the month of August my favorite sweet treat was the Chloe Dark Chocolate Ice Pops, which is basically a healthier version of a fudge pop. Those were always my favorite growing up and as an adult so I was thrilled to find these. They’re organic, non GMO and only have a few ingredients. They are so good! I like to enjoy one in the evenings as a sweet treat while I’m reading and I don’t feel bad because hello, it’s dark chocolate! It’s become one of my favorite parts of the evening.
The next two favorites will probably be on repeat for a long time and they go together perfectly, my favorite drink besides water which I drink a ton of has got to be Iced Unsweetened Green Tea served with extra ice in my ginormous Yeti 30 oz Tumbler which is also an August favorite for me, this has kept my tea or lemon water cold and on ice in my truck on the hottest of summer days. I am now a believer in the Yeti brand. No this is not sponsored I just really love this cup!! I always have my iced green tea at lunch time and drink it throughout the afternoon. It’s a nice little afternoon pick me up. Plus green tea has so many amazing health benefits!
My favorite cleaning product this month has been Mrs Meyers Clean Day HoneySuckle scented dish soap. This was summer in a bottle and brought me back to summers as a child. It made me think of the honeysuckle bushes we had in our yard.
That’s it for my August favorites, keep an eye out on Mondays for my roundup of my weekly adventures and shopping hauls. Also coming in September the long awaited movie room tour and some yummy Fall treats.
